Bham Lit Fest Workshop 1: Starting Fiction – with Helen Cross

Do you like reading fiction? Would you like to begin writing your own stories, scripts or novels? If so, this fun workshop will help you find and craft meaningful and engaging stories. Through a series of writing exercises you will explore how to create characters write dialogue and shape an effective story structure.

No previous experience of writing fiction is necessary.

 

About the host:

Helen Cross has taught creative writing for many writing organisations, universities and widely in the community. She is the author of four novels, including My Summer of Love which became a BAFTA award-winning film. Her short stories are widely published in magazines and anthologies, and she writes drama regularly for BBC Radio 4. Her most recent work is the BBC Radio Drama Podcast series, English Rose, currently available on BBC Sounds.
