National Writers' Conference

Saturday 9 July 2022, University of Birmingham

We run workshopsconferences, residencies and networking throughout the year, as well as the creative development programme Room 204. We hold a range of writing workshops and short courses, as well as host writers from all over the globe.

Young People

Through our Spark Young Writers Programme, we provide schools with writers, run 20 monthly creative writing groups across the west midlands and hold a yearly Summer Writing Challenge.

Through partnerships with publishersuniversities, galleries, libraries and many others, we nurture readers as much as writers.

Celebrating Words

Birmingham Literature Festival runs annually with a full programme, usually in October. For 2020 and 2021, we ran a series of online workshops, a weekly podcast throughout the autumn, daily poetry readings, and live-streamed events. The festival will return in 2022.
