West Midlands Writers at the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters, Kerala, India

A group of writers from the West Midlands will be representing the region as guests at the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters, Kerala, India from Thursday 31st January to Sunday 3rd February 2019. The trip has been arranged by Writing West Midlands working with the Festival.

The writers attending from the West Midlands are poet and publisher Jane Commane, poet and academic Gregory Leadbetter, and literary thriller writer Liam Brown. They will be accompanied by Jonathan Davidson, Chief Executive of Writing West Midlands.

This will be the second edition of the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters. It will take place at the Kanakakkunnu Palace in Kerala’s capital city, Thiruvananthapuram. Over 200 speakers will be present from across the world, including from Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

The writers from the West Midlands will be giving talks and performances about their work.

Jonathan Davidson, Chief Executive of Writing West Midlands said:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for some very talented writers from our region to engage with the Indian literature sector. As well as sharing writing in various ways, we will be developing connections with writers from across the world which we hope will bring more opportunities for sharing work.”
