Bring your best writing and discover what it’s like writing for a magazine! Our online creative writing magazine featuring writing from children and young people from the West Midlands region is available online now! Published three times a year in April, July and December; Spark Young Writers Magazine is edited by tutor, scriptwriter, performer, journalist and book author, William Gallagher. The Magazine features writing from children and young people aged 8 – 20, many of which are part of our Spark Young Writers’ groups but any child aged 8 – 20 is able to submit their writing for inclusion.

Giving young writers the chance to experience what it is like to work with an editor, each individual piece submitted receives feedback from William who works with the young writers to edit their work. Young writers also learn how to make their work stand out and how to revise and develop their writing. There is no theme for the magazine, we look for poems, short stories, prose – any kind of creative writing as long as it is the young writers own and is no longer than 500 words. Up to 3 pieces of creative writing can be submitted.
