Youthcast: training and skills for young writers

Writing West Midlands and Free Radical (part of the Beatfreeks collective) are once again working together on a project to train young writers to make vlogs (video blogs) from their own creative writing.

Working with experts in vlogging and creative writers, you will choose a piece of work which will translate well into film, make a short film and do some basic video editing – all with simple equipment (either your own smartphone or equipment provided by us)!

The vlogs will be shown at the Birmingham Literature Festival in 2019, and also at our annual Awards ceremony on 22nd June 2019 at the University of Birmingham.

The course is open to 15 to 19 year olds.

The workshop will take place at The Studio Birmingham, and will include tea, coffee, lunch and other refreshments.

Course dates:

Monday 18 February, 10am-4.30pm,
Tuesday 19th February, 10am – 4.30pm and
Wednesday 20th February, 10am – 4.30pm

(ticket is for all days)

Cost: £45 (to include coffee breaks, snacks and lunch)

Bursaries are available. Please contact emma@writingwestmidlands.org to apply for one in confidence.
